The CG Jubilee

Posted on Updated on

Fall 2012 begins today for many teachers and students. The Contreras-Gabriel Project has lots to celebrate as we enter the new academic year, so we’re holding a celebration called The CG Jubilee in Crystal Lake, IL on Saturday, September 8 beginning at 1PM.

Start the afternoon by visiting Time and Other Preoccupations, Diana’s solo show at McHenry County College. She’s been working day and night on this mixture of paintings and installations. The show stems from Diana’s relationship to her grandmother, Pastora Gabriel. It’s very personal and close to her heart. It’s available for viewing from 12pm-4pm at the MCC Library

Mario’ll be at Mimi’s Garden, a little ways from Diana, closer to the actual Crystal Lake. Owner and founder, Amy Fowler, agreed to sponsor the event! We’ll have beer and food along with an opportunity to watch Mario’s thesis film, Familia Bom Brill. There’ll also be a bags tournament with some pretty serious competitors.

When Diana returns from her reception, we’ll take a minute to look back on the many successes we’ve shared over the past year and wipe the slate clean for the next. 2012 brought The CG Family many new beginnings and we want to start all these new journeys with a bang.
